When you vacation or reside in New Smyrna Beach, there is so much for which to be grateful, including Canal Street. Peppered with stately palms and buildings from long ago, Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach is a quaint, cozy, friendly place that is always hosting engaging events and offering a tapestry rich with culture experienced through our art galleries, wine tastings and live performances by talented artists; but it is even more than that. Charming, historic Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach is tastefully designed with the ultimate pleasure of foodies in mind!
New eateries on Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach include Ricky’s Canteen, Poke Bar and Street Food. Try a California sub with turkey, avocado, pepper jack and garlic mayo or a poke bowl. It’s good for you and just plain good! Snacks to start – like fresh cracklins with hot honey – and gourmet hotdogs like Ricky’s beanie weenie is where the street food comes in. Don’t forget the Cuban style beef, pulled mojo pork and ahi tacos. Then, how about topping it all off with an ice cream sandwich sundae with chocolate covered pretzels, crackerjacks and caramel sauce? Whaaaaaat?!!! Well, hello Ricky’s!
The Local Pearl Oyster Shoppe is a welcome addition as well. Who wouldn’t want a raw bar with ice cold oysters prime for slurping (or eating primly…nah!) and fresh, local seafood prepared by an award-winning chef? At the Local Pearl, you can start off with local oysters fried in crispy cornmeal and served with a sweet sherry corn relish and salsa verde or some peel and eats and a bowl of middle necks swimming in a mouthwatering garlic and white wine sauce. A few favorite main menu items on which I am sure we can agree include shrimp and grits and lobster rolls – both masterfully prepared.
Of course, Canal Street also offers its tried and true restaurant venues. The Corkscrew never fails to please, and Yellow Dog Eats serves up signature sandwiches piled high like nobody’s business! While the Golden Biscuit and Ruthy’s Kozy Kitchen offer up piping hot breakfasts (and lunch) always served with a smile. And those are just a few!
