New Smyrna Beach is big into surfing…so big that it has served as the origination of more world-class surfers than any other town in the entire world! There were Kem McNair and Charley Baldwin, who won East Coast titles in the early 70s; New Smyrna Beach native Isabell McLaughlin, who won the U.S. Women’s Surf Championship in 1974 and Ross Pell who took two East Coast professional titles in the 1980s…just to name a few.
In fact, surfing is so intrinsically ingrained within the fiber of New Smyrna Beach that we have our own Surfing History Museum here; Travel & Leisure magazine has named New Smyrna Beach one of the “15 Coolest Surf Towns”; and the Association of Surfing Professionals held its World Tour East Coast in New Smyrna Beach in 1989.
So, it just stands to reason that there are some pretty cool websites offering up great surf reports for your review before you hit those infamous waves:
Surfline.com/surf-report/newsmyrna is where live conditions are streamed and written reports are updated twice daily. This site also offers options to add extensive buoy data and ad-free access to exclusive, high resolution cams. Get surf heights, tide information, wind speeds, water temperatures and hourly and extended weather here and at…
