If you love your flip flops and the laid back beach scene, Florida will give you one of those big cheesy smiles! Especially around New Smyrna Beach and the Daytona Beach areas, the dress code is casual. In fact, there really isn’t a dress code. It’s not unusual to see people come into seaside restaurants with mesh-type bathing suit cover-ups straight from the beach.
If you are like most people, you never wear most of what you pack, so consider cutting back on the dressy get-ups, and relax and enjoy. A light, airy sundress with sandals for the girls and khaki shorts ith a polo for the guys will be about the dressiest you need to go in Florida. And, since we are packing light, try to mix and match. Choose neutral colors. I usually like to go black, but in Florida, lighter colors – like tans and whites – will be cooler. Then just pick shirts and shorts to match. Shoes are bulky and can unnecessarily take up tons of suitcase space, so limit those. A good pair of sandals and sneakers should suffice.
Bring a light jacket and a few items you can layer, just in case of some cool nights or a dip in the warm temperatures. It’s good to have at least one pair of long pants too, just in case. I like to wear my one pair of jeans down on the plane trip, so I have them if I need them, and they don’t take up valuable packing room.
If you stay in a condo – like Sandpiper Condominiums – you have an added bonus…a washer and dryer. So you can pack accordingly, and wear whatever you bring multiple times. Aside from helping you handle your laundry expertly, Sandpiper Condos offer a host of resort-style amenities including a great pool, putting green, shuffleboard, tennis courts, luxurious accommodations and the beach is just steps away!
