The Perfect Way To Spend Your Day
| You’ll gleefully witness the blue of a cloudless sky, the lapping of wavelets against a breakwater and a loon’s song from some hidden nest as you relax enjoying your morning coffee in the privacy of your own oceanfront condo balcony when you stay at The Sandpiper Condominiums at New Smyrna Beach. The Sandpiper, located at 5501 S. Atlantic Avenue, affords you the experience of being on the ocean front simultaneously allowing you the flexibility of walking to many of your destinations when you spend your day at New Smyrna Beach.
There are many breakfast restaurants at New Smyrna Beach, but a great place to wake up is “The Wake Up Café”, located on East Third Avenue. It has a hometown feel, friendly service, outdoor eating and is a great restaurant for kids. Specialties of the house include the Spanish Skillet meal and the “Sweet and Salty French Toast” which is grilled thinly sliced ham and cheese between French toast and sprinkled with powdered sugar.
Now that you’ve been fed and are ready for fun you can choose from a variety of activities at New Smyrna Beach, but to make your choice a little easier you might want to visit Nichols Surf Shop, the oldest surf shop in New Smyrna Beach and is located right on Flagler Avenue. Nichols rents bikes, surfboards, kayaks, skim boards, body boards and more! Give them a call at 386-427-5050 and they will gently introduce you to the skill of surfing.
Having worked up an appetite you’re probably ready for lunch and you might want to experience The Taco Shack. It is a Cuban restaurant located at 642 N. Dixie Freeway, New Smyrna Beach where Fish Tacos and Empanadas are both served with Spanish rice, black beans, red beans and guacamole. Cuban sandwiches, Tripleta sandwiches and taco salad are reported to be the best. Hosting New Smyrna Beach posts, “superb food”.
You would not be disappointed if you next visited The Great Park. Bigger than the size of New York’s Central Park and Prospect Park combined, Orange County Great Park includes a two-mile-long canyon of walking paths along a perennial stream, a three-mile wildlife corridor linking the ecosystems of Crystal Cove State Park and the Cleveland National Forest. The park, with its lovely gardens affords visitors a leisurely afternoon stroll.
Now would be the time to relax at Clancy’s hometown restaurant on Flagler Avenue while enjoying a “house” marguerite. Clancy’s is famous for its Mexican food but also noted for other menu items such as the Chicken Monterey ($13.99), chicken sautéed in a wine and butter sauce, served up with grilled onions, bell peppers, sliced tomatoes and sour cream. It is the definition of delicious. The chicken is tender and the sauce adds just the right kick of spice, according to Hosting NSB.
And when the day is over New Smyrna is a good place to be because you can walk back to your private condo balcony at The Sandpiper where you’ll be pleased to discover that summer nights are special. The beautiful moonlit, starry night sky shines on the ocean while you enjoy a cup of tea or a glass of wine, and reflect on your magical day that began on this same balcony. You can pack away one more in your New Smyrna Beach bag of memories.
