New Smyrna Beach Offers a World of Excitement for Kids
Summer is here, and it’s a great time for fun with the kids! Whether you like building sand castles, exploring, boogie boarding, fishing or swimming, New Smyrna Beach has all that and so much more.
New Smyrna Beach offers a dozen miles of white sandy beaches and has a reputation for being one of the best Florida beaches for surfing or boogie boarding. Bring your own board or rent one at any of a number of surf shops along the beach.
The Marine Discovery Center is also a great place for the entire family. Take a guided kayak tour on the Indian River Lagoon with a Florida Master Naturalist, attend a “hands-on and feet wet” adventure camp (for kids 4-16), or enjoy a private cruise on the Discovery Vessel.
There are also plenty of opportunities for camping, fishing and hiking. For instance, Lake Ashby Park is 124 acres filled with camp sites, sport courts, hiking and horse trails, a fishing pier and boat ramp. Smyrna Dunes Park is 73 pristine acres with observation areas, a pavilion and picnic areas, and Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve offers views of some of the largest sand dunes in the state.
Once you are back in town, you may want to try out New Smyrna Beach Skate Park, an 8.500 square foot concrete skating area for teens and adults!
