Photographing Wildlife on the Beach

Florida offers a plethora of beautiful sights to behold, from the lush everglades teeming with life, to the riverbeds draped in Spanish moss and the unparalleled beauty of our white sand beaches.

For photographers, Florida beaches, offering a variety of scenes that fiercely vie to be the first in the viewfinder, are particularly enticing. The wildlife here can be captivating as well, especially at the beach, and the backdrop is a beautiful canvas…nature’s gift to us.

Mornings are quiet. The sand is undisturbed, but for the waves lapping the shoreline. Those gentle (and sometimes not so gentle) waves bring with them treasures from the sea – tiny crabs, sea urchins and beautiful shells. The sand itself is full of life beneath it – life that wakes as the sun begins to rise. The dunes are filled with their own gifts from nature, and lucky observers may even catch a pod of porpoises corralling their breakfast.

Evenings can be just as inviting, with sunsets that are born of a soft palette of color that melds into violently vibrant hues and stretch across the vast surface of the ocean. There is something meditative about watching the wildlife and the beach it inhabits enter into an unhurried state of slumber.

One of the best places to stay, if you would like to capture beach wildlife in its element, is Sandpiper Condominiums. The luxurious ocean view Sandpiper Condo accommodations are inspirational and just steps from the pristine beaches of New Smyrna.
